| This story takes place a little after Lavenderwish's death in Amber Eyes in the Dark. It describes the pain Leopardclaw is feeling at having lost her best friend, and the old grief of the death of Barkface. |
I'll see you again. I know I will. I know you will watch me. But sometimes, watching is not enough.
Why did you leave me? Tell me I'm the claws? Why did you have to die?
Both of you! Barkface, I admired you. Then you were murdered. By Onestar. He does not deserve even to be called Onestar. He is Onewhisker to me.
And Lavenderwish. I remember my first day in camp like yesterday. You showed me round, you looked out for me. I heard you cheer my name louder than any other. I knew you as my best friend.
I do not know who cruelly slaughtered you. ThunderClan. I hate them. I will find out. I will take revenge.
I know you said that your death shouln't get to me, but it has. Cinderpelt was right. The battle has jeopardised my prophecy. I don't know how I can survive without you. My best friend.
And then, you were so young. So much life left in you. pulled away. I wish you could see me. I know you can see me. I wish we could walk and share memories, with unlimited time, not in a green meadow, or stars in our eyes.
I'd hoped that we colud be elders together. Share stories of battles won with curious kits. That will never happen now. Who took your life?
